My Jan 2019 LinkedIn Experiment

At the beginning of the year, I took on the task of becoming more consistent with my blogging/social media posts. And I'm happy to report that so far, so good. In fact, I think I may have found a loophole that is helping me stay consistent.

It turns out that when you post directly within LinkedIn, you have a 1300 character limit. That includes all of your text and hashtags.

It also turns out that 1300 characters is enough to get a specific point across - while not feeling overwhelming.

So, since Dec 31, I've been taking on this task - with the goal of posting on Tues, Wed and Thur each week. With the exception of a travel week Jan 9-11, the consistency has been there. In fact, here's a link to what I've been posting, in order of recency:

To help me with consistency, I'm laying everything out in Trello. Here is what my Trello board looks like as of this morning.

The orange box highlights my posts. I write my posts in Trello, then copy and paste to LinkedIn to see where I'm at regarding the character limit.

Yesterday's Jan 24 post (below) was right at 1300 characters.

I can typically bang out 1300 characters in around 30-45 minutes.

It is definitely the "baby steps" approach, but I can't wait to see where I'm at 6 months from now - or even at the end of the year.

That book may just write itself in 2020!
